Research & Development
We help companies take a product from an untested idea to a working build: customer research, validation, feasibility, prototyping and pilot, with one team.
What does Lenor Ventures' research and development service do?
Lenor Ventures helps companies turn an idea into a working product, starting before any prototype exists. We run voice of customer research, market surveys, problem and concept validation, feasibility and requirements, then build the prototype and take it through a pilot to a working build, with the team that built our own products.
Why Research Before You Prototype
A prototype is the most expensive way to find out that nobody wants a product. Most of the decisions that decide whether a product succeeds are made before any hardware is ordered or any code is written: who the user is, what problem hurts enough to pay for, and what the product must do on its first day.
We start there. Each stage ends with a clear answer and a written deliverable, so you decide to continue, change direction or stop with evidence in hand rather than after the build budget is spent.
The Stages We Take a Product Through
You can join at any stage. If you already have customer research, we start at feasibility; if you have a prototype, we take it to a pilot.
Voice of Customer
We interview the people who would use and pay for the product, watch how they handle the problem today, and record the words they use for it. The output is a short list of real problems, ranked by how often and how badly they hurt.
Market Survey and Sizing
A structured survey tests whether the problems from the interviews hold across a wider group, with a panel sized to the market. We pair it with a sizing of the market you can realistically reach and a map of the alternatives people use now.
Problem and Concept Validation
We put concepts in front of target users as sketches, mock-ups or clickable screens and measure which ones they understand, want and would pay for. Weak concepts are dropped here, while dropping them is cheap.
Feasibility and Requirements
Our engineers check whether the chosen concept can be built with the sensors, connectivity, AI models and budget available. We then write the requirements: what the product must do, what it must never do, and how each requirement will be tested.
Prototyping
We build a working prototype in hardware, software or both, and test it with real users. Expect more than one build: each version answers the questions the last one raised.
Pilot and Working Build
The product runs with real users in a real setting, such as a clinic, a team or a customer site. We fix what the pilot exposes and hand over a working build with its documentation, ready for manufacture or launch.
What You Get at Each Stage
Every stage ends with something you keep, whether or not you continue with us.
A Written Finding
What we learned, the evidence behind it and what it means for the product.
A Clear Recommendation
Continue, change direction or stop, with our reasons.
The Working Files
Interview notes, survey data, designs, code and hardware files from that stage.
A Plan for the Next Stage
Scope, open questions and pricing.
Forensics and Industrial Design
Design and engineering work that takes a product from idea to something that can be made, and tools that see what the eye cannot.
Mechanical Design
Blueprints and schematics for mechanical systems, built on a well-defined process of research and analysis.
3D Modelling
Concepts translated into 3D models ready for manufacture, with fast loops of iteration.
Forensic Light Sources
Light sources that reveal detail invisible to the eye, raising the quality and efficiency of evidence collection.
How We Work with Your Team
Research, engineering, design and marketing sit in one company, so the people who interview your customers work alongside the people who build the prototype. Nothing is lost in a hand-off between agencies.
Most engagements open with a discovery sprint of 2–3 weeks that covers voice of customer research and a first view of feasibility. Your team joins the interviews, reviews each deliverable and makes the decision at the end of every stage. We work from Chennai and Bengaluru and meet in person when a stage needs it.
Proof: Products We Built for Ourselves
We run the same process on our own products, and each one is described by its real stage.
Vanguard
A safety wearable for women, taken through a series of prototype builds, from a key fob to a band with its own mobile connection.
Sports Performance Band
A boot-mounted performance tracker, a working prototype demonstrated with real athletes.
Mei Reco
Guided home rehabilitation that grew out of the Sports Performance Band's motion-sensing work, entering clinical trials in November 2026.
ClinicIQ
A clinic management app, live in a working clinic since January 2026.
Murmur
Reputation intelligence, live on YouTube, X and Facebook.
One Base, Many Products
Vanguard, Mei Reco and the Sports Performance Band share one embedded-systems and sensor base, so each new build strengthens the others. Your project starts from that base rather than from nothing.
Stages, Deliverables and Decisions
| What We Do | What You Get | Decision It Enables | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Voice of customer | Interview and observe target users | Ranked list of real problems, in users' own words | Which problem is worth solving |
| Market survey and sizing | Survey a wider panel and size the reachable market | Survey results, market size and a map of alternatives | Whether the market is large enough to pursue |
| Problem and concept validation | Test sketches, mock-ups and clickable screens with users | Concept scores and the preferred concept | Which concept to take forward |
| Feasibility and requirements | Check technology, cost and risk; write requirements | Feasibility report and requirements document | Whether to fund a prototype, and at what scope |
| Prototyping | Build and test working prototypes with users | Working prototype and test results | Whether the design is ready for a pilot |
| Pilot and working build | Run the product in a real setting and fix what fails | Working build, documentation and pilot report | Whether to manufacture or launch |
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you start if we only have an idea?
- Yes. Most engagements start with voice of customer research, before anything is designed or built. We find out whether the problem is real and who has it, then decide with you whether to continue.
Can we join at a later stage?
- Yes. If you already have research, we start at feasibility and requirements. If you have a prototype, we can test it with users and take it to a pilot.
Do you sign NDAs and who owns the IP?
- We sign an NDA before you share details of your idea. Ownership of the intellectual property created during the engagement is set out in the contract.
Do you build hardware as well as software?
- Yes. We build wearables on our own embedded-systems and sensor base, as well as apps, clinician portals and AI models. Our products include both.
How is the work priced?
- Pricing is set out in the proposal. Each stage is scoped and agreed before it starts, so you can stop after any stage.
